Bay players selected for ND teams

The Bay of Plenty cricket pathway, which has been the catalyst for Daniel Flynn, Trent Boult, Graeme Aldridge and Kane Williamson earning Black Cap selection, has seen a number of Bay players selected for 2013 Northern District age group teams.


A number of Bay of Plenty cricketers have been selected for 2013 Northern District age group teams.

Tom MacRury and Tommy Clout are members of the ND under 19 side currently playing at the National tournament in Canterbury.

Both players are products of the Tauranga Boys College pathway, with Tom MacRury a hard-hitting top order batsmen, while Tommy Clout is a quick bowler of rare talent.

Trident High School batsmen Pip Thickpenny along with Rotorua players Shaquille Graham and Jonty Keaney, were selected for the ND Under 18 development side, after sterling performances at the ND age group tournament.

Coastland wicket keeper Alex Oakley and bowler Henry Conway were also in the team that played their Auckland counterparts in early January.

Katikati College bowler Brodie Gilroy, is another to come from the Western Bay Secondary School first eleven competition, to earn age group representative selection this season.

Brodie was joined in the ND under 16 side, that played Auckland and BOP Under 18, by fellow Coastland player Connor Probert and Lakeland's Liam Kelly.

ND Under 19: Tom MacRury, Tommy Clout (BOP Coastland)

ND Under 18 development: Shaquille Graham, Pip Thickpenny, Jonty Keaney (BOP Lakeland) Alex Oakley, Henry Conway (BOP Coastland)

ND Under 16: Connor Probert, Brody Gilroy, (BOP Coastland) Liam Kelly (BOP Coastland)
