Bay end season against Hamilton

The Bay of Plenty Cricket selectors have continued their policy of selecting promising youngsters who show solid form in the Baywide competitions, with Tauranga Boys' College youngster Ben Musgrave to make his Bay of Plenty Development team debut against Hamilton on Sunday.

The Bay of Plenty Development team's game in Hamilton will bring the Bay sides Basil McBurney (ND Development Competition) Trophy campaign to an end for the current season.

With two big wins and a narrow loss to Counties Manukau on their season ledger card, victory against their Waikato archrivals would put the Bay side in the box season to retain the Basil McBurney silverware.

Captain Peter Wood played two captain's knocks in the back to back Development games played during the Auckland Anniversary holiday weekend.

The first match against Northland saw Wood post a solid 48 runs as his side cruised to a nine wicket victory, then he backed up the next day to top score with 41, in his teams defeat to Counties Manukau.

Tai Bridgeman-Raison, who has returned to representative cricket this season, was in outstanding form against Northland blasting an unbeaten 71, as the Bay side posted a solid win with nine wickets to spare.

Rotorua all-rounder Jason Trembath was also in good touch in both games played over the long weekend.

Three wickets in the Northland encounter and a handy 34 against Counties showed the Rotorua players all round ability.
