Big day for bragging rights

Baywide and Western Bay of Plenty rugby bragging rights will be on the line along with two WBOPRFS Challenge trophies at the Tauranga Domain today.

In the highly anticipated clash of the round, long-time rivals Tauranga Sports and Mount Maunganui will square off in three separate battles of the bridges clashes with the premier main attraction at 2.45pm.

The game has an extra edge with the WBOPRFS Jordan Cup on the line after Tauranga Sports grabbed it from Greerton Marist in the first challenge of the new season.

The Tauranga Sports Seeka KI Western Bay side will put not only the Hardy Rosebowl on the line but also their unbeaten start to the season when they come up against the Mount second 15.

In other WBOPRFS competition matchups, Arataki and Matakana both making unbeaten starts will square off at Grenada Park.

The islanders are looking to produce a strong challenge after posting a 98-19 win over Eastern districts.

Judea, involved in three nail biters so far, will be hoping for their first victory when Te Puke Sports pays a visit to Winiata Maharia Park.

Eastern Districts will host Te Puna at the Paengaroa Domain, Katikati take on Rangiuru in the early game at Moore Park, while Rangataua and Greerton Marist square off at Te Ariki Park.

While they sat on the side-line last weekend courtesy of the bye, their Mount Maunganui opponents warmed up for today's clash with their arch-rivals beating Te Puke Sports 27-17.
