Pigs, possums and prizes
For those feeling adventurous today, Te Ranga School's annual Possum and Pig hunt is underway.
The school's 16th annual fundraiser runs from July 4-7 with around 50 hunters on the hunt to win this year's event.
Weigh in and possum counting will begin at 9am.
Hunters can catch their bounty anywhere – providing they have appropriate licences for using firearms, comply with firearm regulations and have landowner's permission to hunt on land.
Possums can be caught by trap or gun with fur being plucked immediately after the event.
Activities including a ‘killer hill pig run' where participants have to run up-hill while carrying a pig on their shoulders, and ‘cow pat bingo' are also on offer.
There are more than 40 spot rpizes to giveaway.
