Bay visit for ND coaching team

A Northern Districts Cricket coaching brains trust is set to return to the region to impart knowledge of the game on two separate visits to the Bay of Plenty in September and October 2013.

The ND High Performance coaches will deliver their messages to the invited Bays elite and most promising players and a selected group of representative coaches.

New Zealand cricket legend Lance Cairns along with Northern Knights coach James Pamment, Pat Malcon, Peter Zanzoterra and Chris Dickinson will bring their various skill sets to a further visit apiece to the Western Bay and Rotorua, after the initial call to the Bay of Plenty in August.

Lance Cairns, who is currently imparting his coaching knowledge in the Counties Manukau region, needs little introduction to cricket fans in the country.

Cairns has strong connections to the Bay region and played 14 games for Bay of Plenty while living in Te Puke in the 1980's. He will have a captive audience when he delivers his expertise on quick bowling.

Newly appointed Northern Knights head coach James Pamment is another to have a strong knowledge of cricket in the Bay. James posted 10 appearances for Bay of Plenty in the twilight of his representative career. In recent years he coached the Bay of Plenty senior men's side to three Fergus Hickey Rosebowl titles in four seasons. He will deliver effective batting techniques on the two visits.

Spin bowling mentor Cliff Dickinson grabbed 282 first class wickets for ND during his playing days before embarking on a coaching career. NDC Operations Manager Pat Malcon has wealth of all round coaching information at his fingertips, while Counties Manukau Director of Coaching Peter Zanzoterra rounds out the ND powerhouse team.
