ND One Day Tournament @ Owen Delaney Park, Taupo 10/12 November 2013

Northland batted first and set Bay of Plenty another good sized target, when they posted 226 all out, on the second day of the annual ND One-Day tournament. The Bay boys made a valiant attempt for victory but came up 18 runs short with two wickets still in hand.

For the second day in a row, Bay of Plenty master batsman Bharat Popli reached the 90s, posting a gritty 94 against Northland.

Bay of Plenty enters the last day of the one-day tournament with a win and a loss on their ledger card.

Victory against arch rivals Hamilton, on day three, will keep the Bay right in contention as they attempt to defend the Brian Dunning (ND One-Day) Trophy.

Day one saw Bay of Plenty under the pump, after Counties Manukau batted first on the opening day of the ND One-Day tournament in Taupo.

Counties set the Bay a large target when they reached 275/5.

However, the Bay batsmen responded in spades needing 276 at five and a half runs an over, Bay master blaster Bharat Popli top scored with 90 with keeper Tim Clarke posting 75 runs.

Peter Drysdale blasted a quickfire 40 of just 19 balls as Bay of Plenty grabbed a four wicket win.
