Sides set for Knockout Cup

Following hard on the heels of the quick-fire Reserve Grade T20 championship, is another short and sharp second echelon title race, bowling into action this Saturday.

The Reserve NZ Sports Tours Knockout Cup will be played across the next three Saturdays, with the two unbeaten sides deciding the championship at the conclusion.

All eight teams will have something to chase with a Plate and Special Plate competitions starting after week one.

Reserve championship competition leader Sangha Raavi play Te Puke, sitting bottom of the standings. But it will not be one-way traffic, with Te Puke showing their potential with three from four victories in the T20 championship.

Katikati, second place in the championship stakes, meet Tauranga Boys College, with Greerton playing the Sangha second eleven. Cadets will square off with Mount Maunganui in a repeat of last week's clash between the clubs two premier sides.

The B Grade title race picks up from the pre-holiday break, which sees Wanderers holding a ten point lead from Katikati, with a further 10 points back to Grasshoppers.

While Wanderers sit on the sideline courtesy of the bye, Katikati will be looking to grab the outright lead when they play bottom of the table Albion at Ferguson Park. Grasshoppers play Mount Masters at Mitchell Park, with Greerton playing long-time rivals Cadets at Waipuna Park.
