Welcome Bay School boost

Welcome Bay School students got a morale boost on Friday from Tauranga police who helped them celebrate the end of term two.

Welcome Bay School students were visited by police, who helped them celebrate the end of term.

The school had a disastrous six months this year following a burglary and a devastating fire, which disrupted classes.
Police yesterday greeted students with big smiles, a sausage sizzle and police dog demonstrations.
Welcome Bay community constable Leanne Fairbairn says the school is amazing but students and staff have endured challenging obstacles.
'They have had a bad run but the spirit of the school hasn't dampened,” says Leanne.
Students were brought into the school hall and treated to a sausage sizzle and a police dog demonstration.
Welcome Bay acting principal Nikki Keys says the day is about celebrating the students' achievements.
She says a lot of the focus on the school in recent months has been negative but this was a chance to be positive.
