The catamaran partially sunken at Pilot Bay at the weekend will be broken up and removed by the owner.
Paul Hollingshead is hoping to keep the deck and deck house of Alley Cat, which is currently beached after salvage efforts yesterday, but believes the 30ft aluminium hulls will have to be cut up in order to get them off the beach.

'At the moment I'm just trying to get some people together. The boat – it's a write off,” says Paul today from his home at Paengaroa.
'Unfortunately I don't have any means. I can't get the boat out here, there's nowhere to put it. It's just too big.
'So unfortunately I'm going to be scrapping the hulls and keeping the middle part.”
The 3mm aluminium hulls are 30 feet (9.1 metres) long.
Paul's currently trying to find someone with the right equipment to move the boat, which weighs about three tonne.
'So I think we are going to be lifting the front part off, cutting the hulls there in half if we are able to – or getting someone to move it.”
Paul, a solo father, says he's also under a tight time limit from Tauranga City Council.
'I don't have much money or anything. I can only do what I can do.”
The blue hulled catamaran was found damaged and partially sunk on Sunday lunchtime, after strong westerly winds blew into Pilot Bay.
The ties securing the port hull to the cross beams parted, and the hull folded under and no longer supported the deck.

Council attitude?

Seems to me this reads as if the City Council is being less helpful, less accommodating towards this wreck than it is the Rena.
Nothing to do with council

More like the boat was in need of some major matinence just look at the weed on the hull. This wreck should have been off the water long ago by the look of it.
Looks to me

It was a write off long before this bout of damage?
