Only residents at both ends of Kopu-Hikuai Rd will be given access and NZ Transport Agency advises other travellers to consider rescheduling all non-urgent travel plans.

NZTA says a detour will be in place however it will add approximately 90 minutes to the journey time.

'The detour route will involve SH26 south to Paeroa then on to SH2 to Waihi then on to SH25 to Whangamata.

'The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience and understanding.”

The Police Eagle helicopter discovered the vehicle which had crashed down a steep 100m bank off the Kopu-Hikuai Rd on October 30.

It was part of a search effort for 71-year-old Pauanui man Glenn David McLean who's body was recovered from the site of the crash.

Glenn was last seen in Pauanui on Tuesday, October 28 after being reported missing by his family.

The Kopu-Hikuai Rd (SH25A) will be closed on Monday, November 10, from 8pm to 11pm.
