Table toppers to face off

The latest round of the Baywide Cup sees a top of the table clash between competition leaders Carrus Mount Maunganui and Element IMF Cadets, at the Tauranga Domain

Since the Baywide Cup was introduced in 2008, Mount Maunganui and Cadets are the only names engraved on the Baywide silverware.

Mount Maunganui has won the limited overs trophy on five occasions with Cadets twice lifting aloft the Cup in victory.

There is no bigger rivalry in Baywide cricket, than when than two sides from the opposite sides of the Tauranga Harbour Bridge meet in battle.

This weekend's encounter will match up some of the big hitters in Bay of Plenty cricket.

Cadets skipper Ben Christensen, has been the big mover on the Baywide batting honours board in November, where he sits in second place with 176 runs.

Another match winner is Joe Carter, who holds the Bay of Plenty Cricket representative highest score of 215no.

Mount Maunganui also has their own master blasters, with Bay keeper Tim Clarke posting a big innings in the Baywide title race, when he smashed 138 against Whakatane United.

Opening batsman Peter Drysdale never gives his wicket away cheaply and can dig deep for his side when the chips are down.

Eves Realty Greerton, who sit comfortably in third place on the standings square off with Tauranga Boys College at Pemberton Park.

The Tauranga Boys batsmen, will need to be on their guard against Greerton strike bowler Dan Spencer, who grabbed a seven wicket bag last weekend.

City Sports Bar Te Puke should be too good for Whakatane United at the Te Puke Domain, while Central and BOP Indians will take part in a Rotorua derby at Smallbone Park.
