Defending champs in front

In spite of indifferent form in the WBOPCA First Round competitions, both last season's Reserve and B Grade champions have laid down the gauntlet to the other contenders in the 2015 title races.

Reserve Grade titleholders R&A Sangha have got away to a flyer in pursuit of back to back championships. Not only have they remained unbeaten after the two opening rounds, but they have posted scores of 304 and 240 at the batting crease.

This Saturday the defending champions square off with Cadets at the Tauranga Domain.

To give the game an extra edge, the combatants will take unbeaten records into the encounter. Cadets have won multiple Reserve Grade crowns over the years and are always hard to beat at home base.

Ex Bay representative batsmen Grant Manners has returned again to assist the Cadets Second XI and could be the danger man at batting crease.

WBOPCA 2014 First Round competition winners Katikati, sit just off the pace, after being defeated by the Sangha XI in the first round. The season form book would suggest that Katikati will be too strong for the Tauranga Boys young line-up.

Greerton will be looking to move up the standings when they play bottom of the table Te Puke with Mount Maunganui expected to be too strong for Sikh Sports.

Current B Grade champions Wanderers, have also put indifferent early season form behind them and sit alone at the top of the standings. A match-up with the Te Puke regions Singh XI should produce a good battle at Ferguson Park.

While the Te Puke side sit winless at the bottom of the ladder, they were one of the form teams of the WBOPCA First Round title race.

Greerton play multiple B Grade titleholders at Pemberton Park, Katikati renew their long standing rivalry with Mount Maunganui at the Uretara Domain while Cadets square off with Albion at Mitchell Park.
