R&A Sangha chase four victories

The R&A Sangha renaissance in Western Bay of Plenty Cricket continues, as the 2014 Reserve Grade champions, remain the only unbeaten side in the two 2015 title races.

A lacklustre run of form in the 2014 First Round competition, has been completely turned around with the Sangha XI posting three straight wins.

This Saturday the defending titleholders, will meet Greerton who sit in third place on the standings. While Greerton will have home track advantage at Pemberton Park, they are likely to have a real battle on their hands against the side, who has blasted 707 runs in just three rounds.

One of the real rivalries of Western Bay Reserve Grade cricket, will play out another chapter, when Mount Maunganui hosts Katikati at Blake Park.

The two sides have fought out the last four final stanzas of the Baywide McNaughton Trophy and there is always bragging rights on the line when the two sides meet.

Te Puke will host Sikh Sports, who upset Mount Maunganui last weekend after posting 300 plus runs. Multiple Reserve titleholders Cadets will be keen to improve their position in the standings and square off with Tauranga Boys College at Tauranga Boys Headquarters.

The B Grade championship title race was split wide open last weekend, when Wanderers who are the current champions, tasted defeat.

Wanderers, Grasshoppers, Cadets and Mount Maunganui sit astride the leaderboard with the four other contenders just six points adrift.

The winner of the Mount Maunganui verses Wanderers clash at Blake Park, will take a big step towards booking a semi-final berth. Both sides have won the B Grade title in the last decade and there is likely to be a real urgency in the game.

In other B Grade encounters Katikati are at home at the Uretara Domain to Grasshoppers, the Singh XI meet Albion in Te Puke, while Cadets and Greerton square off at the Tauranga Domain.
