Missing man’s body found

A body recovered from the Waikato River yesterday has been identified as 21-year-old Nicholas Stevens.

Nicholas was reported missing from a health care facility on Monday.


The body of Nicholas Stevens has been recovered from the Waikato River.

Detective Inspector Ross Patterson says the body of a man was recovered from the Waikato River shortly before 11am yesterday in a stretch of water near Parana Park.

'On behalf of the NZ Police I would like to extend our condolences to the family of 21-year-old Hamilton man, Nicholas Taiaroa Stevens,” says Ross

'Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with Mr Steven's death and the matter has been reported to the Coroner.”

Ross says the missing man had been the subject of a variety of searches and inquiries since he reported missing.

He says police wish to acknowledge the sightings reported of him by the public and the actions of Waikato Search and Rescue volunteers who had assisted police in trying to locate him.
