Hundreds of office workers were forced to evacuate Harrington House in the Tauranga CBD this afternoon.

Northern Fire Communications shift manager Scott Osmond says the evacuation was caused by an alarm activation, but there was no danger to persons or property.

'Appliances from the Tauranga and Greerton stations attended, staff have gone through the building but there appears to be no cause for the alarm.”

Fire crews gave the all-clear for people to re-enter the building at about 2.30pm.
