Emergency services have been called to houses in Ohope after residents roofs have been blown off.

A mini tornado swept through the area at around 5.47pm and pulled roofs off nearby houses on Harbour Road.

A Northern Fire communications spokesperson says that five crews are attending.

'There are five or six houses that are currently damaged after the mini tornado.”

'There are no reports of any injuries.”
