Police are warning that an armed man, wanted on a variety of warrants for breaching bail in relation to serious violent offences, is travelling frequently between the Waikato and Bay of Plenty.
Detective Constable Paul Hamlyn says three warrants to arrest Isaac Donavan Simon have been issued for breaching bail on 18 serious assault, drug and domestic violence charges.
Isaac Simon.
'In December last year Simon was involved in an alleged violent domestic incident in which he allegedly assaulted his female ex-partner.
'Arrested on that matter, Simon then breached his bail and went on the run for a month and was then involved in an incident by an East Hamilton park club where he allegedly shot at two people before fleeing.
'Arrested again Simon was again granted bail, which he has again breached.”
Paul says Simon was thought to have been travelling around Hamilton over recent days and has also been sighted in Rotorua while he is believed to also have links in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
'We believe Simon has access to firearms and he has an extensive criminal history, much of which involves violent offending.
'If someone sees Simon we ask that you don't approach him but ring 111 immediately.”
Simon is described as a 39-year-old male Maori of medium build about 165cm tall.
Paul says domestic violence incidents such as the type Simon was involved in are a major priority for police.
Nationally, on average, 10 children die each year in domestic violence incidents while a woman is killed every five weeks at the hands of their partner or ex-partner.
