The first lot of meetings with the new commission in Tauranga will start on Monday.

Meetings will run at the Tauranga City Council Chambers on February 22 and March 8.

Tauranga Council's general manager people and engagement Susan Jamieson says these will be similar to council meetings in that they will be publicly advertised, will be held in the council chamber, are open to the public to attend and will follow an agenda format.

'Meetings will be attended by the commissioners, the council executive and any staff presenting reports, and any members of the media or the community who wish to attend,” says Susan.

'The intent is that the public forum section provided at Council and Committee meetings will be reinstated in future.”

Susan says the long-term schedule of meetings and committee structure is still under development.

She says as the Commission works through the 2021-31 Long-term Plan process, there will also be a number of community engagement opportunities which people can get involved in.
