There are 23 new community cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand today. All of the new community cases are in Auckland.
There is one new case identified at the border and this person is in managed isolation. More than 64,000 vaccines were administered yesterday.
'There is a slight increase in today's numbers,” says a Ministry of Health spokesperson.
'As we have said previously, some volatility is likely at this stage as we expect some changes in the numbers as day 5 and day 12 tests for contacts of cases are due, and we do further investigations of any new unlinked cases.
'This does serve as a strong reminder of the importance of following the COVID-19 Alert Level rules wherever you are, and to get tested if you have any symptoms or have been at a location of interest at the specified times.”
The new cases identified at the border arrived in NZ on September 6 from Singapore. Their full travel history is still to be confirmed. They tested positive on Day3 through routine testing and are in managed isolation in Auckland.

Given that we have had to lockdown over a million people, WHY are flights still arriving from overseas? Why don't we just automatically seal the country if we have to seal our Cities? Until such time as "Vaccinated and pre-boarding tested ONLY" flights are implemented WHY is it OK to continue taking this unnecessary risk?

Mate, you have hit the nail right on the head!! I've also bee saying this for months. Makes no sense at all. Close the doors until January 2022.....at least.
