Tauranga race goers will have to wait another month before they can attend a race meeting at Tauranga Race Course.

It's been three months since the last meeting in June and many will be eyeing a day at the races, says general manager Louise Dean.

But the public will have to wait a little bit longer before sit in the stands.

Louise says staying at Alert Level 2 means the public will not be able to attend race meetings.

'It's disappointing for those race goers hoping to enjoy the spring race day.

'We had plenty planned including free children's entertainment, but the fact that we are limited to 100 people and table service is a must, it's impossible to run a race day for the public, so this weekend's race will be a closed door event.”

Louise says some owners and members who have to pre-registered will be able to attend but if they don't register, they will be turned away.

The nine race programme will get underway at midday on Sunday.

The next race day is planned for Wednesday, October 20, whilst the two Christmas at the Races days are almost completely sold out on Saturday, November 13, and Friday, December 10.
