UPDATE 7.23am: Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has revealed household contacts of the Raglan Covid-19 case have tested positive for the virus, reports Newshub,

She says genome sequencing has linked the Waikato cases to the original Auckland outbreak but it remains unclear how the virus jumped the border.

EARLIER:

Initial locations of interest have been listed for parts of the Waikato region, which is in alert level 3 this morning after two community cases.

Auckland will hear the government's decision on alert levels for the region this afternoon.

Yesterday a parent of baby in intensive care at Auckland City Hospital tested positive for Covid-19.

Raglan, Te Kauwhata, Huntly, Ngāruawāhia and Hamilton city moved to alert level 3 at midnight.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said these places will stay at this higher alert level for at least five days.

McDonald's Taupiri, BP Raglan, SuperValue Raglan on Bow Street and Aroha Sushi Raglan were listed last night as the first locations of interest.
