Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern fire communications shift manager Jordan Barnett says investigations are underway into the cause of the blaze.

'We received multiple calls reporting a house or garage on fire.

'Upon arrival we found a well-involved house fire. It was about 10m by 15m.”

Jordan says firefighters were called at 2.11am and were on scene at 2.18am.

'Shortly after arriving the appliance requested a second alarm to be transmitted and responded.”

There were five appliances plus support vehicles that attended the fire.

'All the occupants were reported to be out and firefighters didn't report anyone inside.

'We currently have two fire investigators on the scene that are conducting their investigation.”

Police say no one was injured and everyone was reported to be out of the house when they arrived on scene.

"We have staff guarding the scene so police and fire and emergency staff can access the scene this morning."

SunLive is working on getting more information and will provide an update when we can.
