A man who spotted his allegedly stolen e-bike for sale online has helped lead police to a huge haul of stolen goods.

The man went to the Tauranga Police Station on Tuesday, June 13, after spotting the bike on Facebook Marketplace.

Police then arranged a sting to find the thieves, using a fake buyer to purchase the bike.

This led to the discovery of a container of other stolen goods. After executing a search warrant, police identified further victims of theft – including some people who were not aware that items had been stolen from them.

Two men were arrested and will appear in court.

Area Commander Inspector Clifford Paxton praised the quick action of police.

'This was a great result for those victims and demonstrates the work we're doing out there to keep our communities safe."

Good job the miscreants were brought to police attention . Otherwise it would be fill in a form for insurance and no police involvement
