State Highway 2 closed following crash in the Bay of Plenty.

The highway, at Waiotahi, Ōpōtiki, is closed between Dunlop Road and Woodlands Road following a crash.

"Police were called to the crash, involving two motorcycles, just before 1pm," says a police spokesperson.

"Initial indications suggest that there are serious injuries.

"The Serious Crash Unit have been notified."

Diversions are in place: Southbound traffic: Turn right onto Paerata Ridge Rd, left into Old Creamery Rd, straight through to Crooked Rd, straight through to Hukutaiai Rd, right onto SH2. Northbound: Reverse. DETOUR NOT SUITABLE FOR HPMVs
