One person is reported to have serious injuries following a crash in the Bay of Plenty.

Emergency services were called after a ute had rolled on State Highway 2, between the two turnoffs into McPherson Street, near Matata just before 7pm.

A police spokesperson said drive was reported to have serious injuries.

The road was closed and traffic was being diverted while the serious crash unit investigated the scene.

Police report the road was open just after 8pm.
