No one was injured when a house was engulfed in flames in Waihi this morning.

Waihi Fire Brigade was called to the blaze on Barry Road at about 10.30am.

A house has been destroyed following a fire in Waihi this morning.

Northern Fire Communications shift manager Scott Osmond says they are not treating the fire as suspicious.

'It was a substantial fire," says Scott.

'The house has been badly damaged but there were no injuries.”

Scott says Tauranga fire risk management officer Bill Rackham is at the scene investigating the cause of the blaze.
