Alleged PM death threat: accused no-show in court

Sivell was due in the Tauranga District Court on Tuesday morning for his second appearance.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Richard Trevor Sivell, the 39-year-old Te Puke man charged with threatening to kill Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Sivell was due in the Tauranga District Court on Tuesday morning for his second appearance, but didn't show.

Judge Thomas Ingram issued a warrant for his arrest.

The first time Sivell appeared in court, he had to be dragged into the dock by two police officers and a security guard when he refused to move beyond the public gallery.

Sivell was remanded on bail at his first appearance, on the condition he not contact Ardern, not use or threaten violence against anyone and not use a device capable of accessing the internet.

What right does this Security Guard to intervene? They have no powers of jurisdiction. Now I'm not sticking up for the accused but I will stand up against these big-headed Security Guards at the entrance to the Courthouse. I had an experience very recently where I needed to go to the Courthouse and was confronted by three big-heads, the smallest of which seemed to be their leader. I explained why I was there and little big-head got rather upset because he couldn't answer my questions as to why is was refused entry. My entry into our Courthouse is a legal right and to have this littlebig-head deny me is unlawful. No wonder this Country is going to he'll in a gand-cart when Roosyers like little big-head smell the sense of power.
